MARK HENDERSON BIOGRAPHY

Mark Henderson
is an Associate and Lighting Consultant to the Royal National Theatre
and Lighting Adviser to the Almeida Theatre.

He is one of the UK's top lighting designers. He has worked with the UK's most prestigious opera and ballet companies, including the ENO, The Royal Opera, WNO, Opera North, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Scottish Opera, the LCDT, Rambert Dance Company, The Royal Ballet, Scottish Ballet, Northern Ballet, SWRB, and for most of the UK's leading theatres and theatre companies; The RSC, The Royal National Theatre, The Old Vic (where he was Head of Lighting for the 1997 Peter Hall Season), The Almeida (where he also acts as Lighting Consultant) and London's West End. Overseas, Mark has worked with Opera de Nancy, the Hong Kong Festival and on Broadway.

He has lit touring productions for Rowan Atkinson (World and UK Tours), Ruby Wax, French and Saunders, Steve Coogan, Victoria Wood, Bottom, Eddie Izzard and The League of Gentlemen.

Mark has lit for television and film, including The Tall Guy and Rowan Atkinson Live in Boston.

He also worked on architectural projects; The Royal Court re-development and for Madam Tussauds in London, Las Vegas and New York.

His lighting designs have won him many awards and nominations including the Olivier Award for Best Lighting in 1992, 1994, 2000 and 2002 (with nominations in 1995, 1997, 1998 and 1999) and a Tony Award for Best Lighting Design in 2006 (History Boys) with nominations in 1996, 1999, 2005 and 2006 (Faith Healer).
