BBC2 sitcom Hebburn has won Best Drama Production at the RTS North East & Border Centre Awards this weekend.The North East series, written by comedian Jason Cook, beat off competition from The Paradise, Vera, and Wolfblood to win the award.The judges praised Hebburn for its “originality, its authentic cast and its lovingly accurate portrayal of life in a Northern town”, adding: “We felt Hebburn is a classic in the making.”A second series has been commissioned and will be filmed later this year.
